Sculptor – Professor

Garegin was born in 1954 in Yerevan, Armenia.

In 1978 – Graduated from the Yerevan State Academy of Art, the department of Sculpture.

Since 1983 – has been a member of Artists’ Union of USSR. Since 1990 – Has been teaching at the Yerevan State Academy of Art. Since 1996 – Has been a permanent member of the jury of the International Competition Dedicated to Dante Allegiery. In 2005 – Got a Professor’s post and rank.

Exhibitions and Competitions

In 1989 – Bronze medal in the Posnan International Biennale of Minor Sculpture. (Poland).

In 1989 – Got a special Prize from the USSR Ministry of Culture “The Best Sculpture of

the Year” (was presented by the Tretyakov’s National Gallery), (Moscow).

In 1990 – Was awarded by “The Grand Gold Medal” of Pope John Paul II for the sculpture “The Sin of Avarice”, the ninth International Biennale of Bronze Sculpture

dedicated to Dante Allegiery, (Ravenna, Italy).

In 1993 – Personal Exhibitions:

1. At the municipal gallery of Saint – Gallen, (Swizerland).

2. At the municipal gallery of Lugano, (Swizerland).

3. At the municipal gallery of Rien. (Swizerland).

4. The International forum of Geneva “Europa Art-93” at Palexpo. (Swizerland).

In 1994 – Got the Grand Prize of the XI International Biennale of Bronze Sculpture for

“The Gate of Purgatory” sculpture.

In 1995 – Got the Special Prize of the Varoshi Gallery Bronze Sculpture International symposium

In 1996 – A personal exhibition at the hall of the Union of Artists’ of Armenia.

In 1996 – Took part in the exhibition of Armenian Sculpture and Graphics organized by

the “Urania” company, Berlin (Germany).

In 1998 – The First Prize in the National Competition dedicated to the Independence of Armenia.

In 2001 – The First Prize in the exhibition dedicated to the 1700 anniversary of the

adoption of the Christianity, (Yerevan).

In 2002 – A personal exhibition at the “Vorpal” gallery, San-Francisco (The USA).

In 2005 – A personal exhibition at the “VIP” hall of the “Golden Palace”, (Moscow).

In 2006 – A “Vahan Tekeyan” Prize in the art’s nomination.

In 2007 – An exhibition “Contemporary Artists From Armenia” at the centre of Alex Manukyan.

In 2008 – A Portrait memorial state  and sculpture memorial of Armenian national artist E.Isabekyan in Erevan.

In 2008 An exhibition “Generation Freedom Armenian`s New Avanguard” at the hall “Interart”. New York. USA

In 2009 the finalist of the selection process for the East Main Roundabout Art Project in Norman, Oklahoma

In 2010 The Art Exhibition of Armenian Artists in Casel del Ovo. Napoly (Italy)

In 2011 The Installation of monument of Fridtjof Nansen in Yerevan, Armenia

In 2011 is awarded by the huge humanist, the laureate of peace Nobel prize Fridtjof Nansen’s Golden Medal

In 2013 The Installation of monument of the composer Alexander Harutyunyan in the National Pantheon

In 2014 The Installation of monument of Great Maecenas Galust Guylbenkyan on Gyulbenkyan Street  in Yerevan Armenia

In 2015 By the decree of the president of the Republic of Armenia has been awarded by Movses Xorenaci medal.

In 2016 Monument dedicated to the genocide of Yezidi.

In 2016 “Masterpieces of Soviet Art”, Central House of Artists, Moscow, Russia.

In 2018 Personal exhibition in Art-center “Bronze Horse”, Krasnodar, Russia.

In 2018 Personal exhibition in Art-center “Fort”, Sochi, Russia.

In 2018 Art Exhibition “Quadriennale de Lyon” Leon, France.

The sculptures of Garegin Davtian are being exhibited at the museums, galleries and private collections of the following countries: Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Great Britain, France, Russia, Hungary, the USA, Belgium, Armenia and so on. In particular: At the National Gallery of Armenia (Yerevan), at the Tretyakov’s National State Gallery (Moscow), at the Dante Allegiery’s National Museum (Ravenna, Italy), at the National Gallery of “Varoshi” (Niredz-Ghaza, Hungary), at the National Gallery of Chelyabinsk (Russia) and so on.
